Medicines delivered by a Zipline drone, Kisumu, Kenya 19.10.2024

Updated:

In the county of Kisumu, Kenya, drones are delivering essential HIV drugs and screening kits to remote villages.

The Zipline service, run by Samuel Sineka, solves access problems exacerbated by bad weather and enables the rapid delivery of medicine to clinics, allowing health staff to remain on site.

The system helps to raise awareness of HIV, particularly among young people. At events such as football matches, the drones drop packages containing everything needed to promote HIV awareness and testing.

This has made it possible to carry out large-scale tests, which are essential in the fight against the HIV epidemic in Kenya.
