Hundreds gathered in front of Paris City Hall in support of anti-whaling activist Paul Watson who is facing extradition to Japan.

A Greenland court extended his custody until 13 November as Denmark considers Japan’s request, despite no extradition treaty between the countries.

Watson, arrested in July, faces up to 15 years in prison for allegedly obstructing a Japanese whaling ship in 2010. Sea Shepherd France and Watson’s supporters demand his release, and Watson has requested political asylum from French President Emmanuel Macron.
