Runners dressed in colourful dinosaur costumes participated in a race up a grassy ski slope in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture, on Sunday.

The event aimed to promote the city, known for its fossil discoveries. More than 100 participants, aged 1 to 74, raced uphill in T-Rex costumes, cheered on by spectators, though some fell during the run.

A 31-year-old man won the race for junior high school students and older participants. Despite the challenges, many enjoyed the experience, and the winner, competing for the first time, hopes to defend his title next year.
