Sebastian Alvarez steps out of the helicopter at the start of his 'skysurf'

Video. Sebastian Alvarez's makes history 'skysurfing' in Abu Dhabi

Updated:

Chilean wingsuit flyer Sebastian Alvarez has made history by "skysurfing" from a Bell 212 helicopter located 3,657 metres above Hudayriyat Island in Abu Dhabi.

Alvarez used a modified surfboard to land on a 2.3-metre wave at the Surf Abu Dhabi facility.

This world-first feat combined skysurfing, swooping, and surfing, after over two years of preparation.

Partnered with Experience Abu Dhabi, Alvarez's achievement highlights the world's largest wave facility, which will host the Abu Dhabi Longboard Classic and future WSL events.
