Around 2,000 French security forces were deployed on Wednesday evening amid fears of more violent protests.

Riot police guard as vehicles burn in Nanterre, a Paris suburb where a 17-year-old was shot in the chest at point-blank range by police. 

About 2,000 police in riot gear were on the streets in the Paris suburbs. They were largely met with resistance as anger simmers over the deadly shooting. 

French President Emmanuel Macron said the teenager's death was "unforgivable".
