Residents of Kherson are being urgently evacuated to safer places by emergency teams following floods caused by the destruction of the Nova Kakhovska dam on Tuesday.

Dnipro River waters were up to 11 metres high on Tuesday evening. Access to many residential buildings is restricted due to flooding, making rescue operations very difficult.

Ukrainian authorities accused Russian forces of purposely destroying the dam, while Russian authorities blamed recent Ukrainian military strikes.
