This 2,000-year-old statue of the demi-god is now on display at the Vatican Museums. It is being painstakingly restored to its former glory in a project due to last until December.

A 2,000-year-old Hercules standing 4 metres tall, is set to shine once more thanks to the skills of Vatican Museum restorers.

The largest bronze statue of the ancient world, 'Hercules Mastai' was buried after being struck by lightning and then rediscovered at the end of the 19th century.
