Thousands of people take to the streets of Montreal to call on the Canadian government to do more to fight climate change, in particular "by moving away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible".

Thousands of people take to the streets of Montreal to call on the Canadian government to do more to fight climate change, in particular "by moving away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible".

"I still believe there is hope, but not with the system we have," says a young demonstrator. 

Earth Day was founded in 1970 in the US by a senator from Wisconsin who organised a national demonstration to raise awareness of environmental issues.
