In France, thousands of strikers took to the streets of the old port in Marseille for the second time in a month to protest against the government's planned pension reforms.

It was part of a nationwide wave of action against the proposals that many workers consider unfair. 

France's main left-wing parties are backing the strikers.

The plans involve raising the country's minimum retirement age by two years to 64.
