Video. Sweden’s Ice Hotel reopens for the season

Updated:

The famous Ice Hotel, located in the polar circle, is partially rebuilt every year with the help of architects and artists.

Located 200 kilometres north of the Arctic circle, the world's largest ice hotel reopened its doors on Friday for the new winter season.

Each year, artists submit fresh ideas for the complex, spanning over 6,000 square metres, before parts of the establishment are rebuilt with new rooms and designs using only carved ice and snow from its surroundings.

The northern lights can be seen above Jukkasjärvi, Sweden during the winter months.
