The eastern Mexican city of Guadalajara was sweltering in 30 degrees Celsius on Sunday when a freak hail storm swept through carpeting some parts in up to 1.5 metres of ice.
Images shared on social media show cars buried by the ice and people out on the streets wandering what looked like a winter landscape.
