Local people in the Ayutthaya Province, Thailand kicked off the elephant water-splashing Songkran Festival on Wednesday.
The elephants were painted with colourful flowers from head to toe and sprayed the children and adults with water.
The Songkran festival is observed in other southeast Asian countries including Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia.
