The funeral of Daphne Caruana Galizia took place privately in the parish church of Musta, not far from the village of Bidnija, where the Maltese journalist was assassinated on October 16th.
The family said everybody was welcome to the funeral, except the island’s institutions.
The only institutional representative that attended the funeral, invited by the three children and the husband of the assassinated blogger, was Antonio Tajani, President of the European Parliament, who announced that the European Parliament Press Room will be dedicated to Daphne Caruana Galizia.
After the ceremony, the coffin was placed in the square in front of the church. Thousands of people asking for justice sang the national anthem.
