Buenos Aires hosts annual waiter's race

Hundreds of waiters took part in an annual race in Argentina’s capital Buenos Aires on Saturday, trying to walk as fast as possible without upending beverage bottles and drink glasses on their trays.

470 men and women took part in the 1,600 metre race through Avenida de Mayo, one of the capital’s main thoroughfares.

The Hotel and Hospitality Workers Union, which sponsored the event, gave out a 1,000 US dollars prize for each category’s winner.

Cafe culture remains a staple in the Argentinian capital, often dubbed as ‘the Paris of the South.’
