Thousands in northwestern Peru were struggling to recover from ongoing deadly flooding on Friday (March 31) after the Piura River overflowed. The Peruvian government declared a state of emergency in Piura and delivered 25 tonnes of humanitarian aid, but this has not been sufficient to console residents scraping for food and water, looking for missing loved ones and protecting flooded homes from looters.
