More than 200 African migrants were rescued off the Libyan coast on Saturday by Proactiva Open Arms, a Spanish NGO.
A spokesman said 250 people were rescued from two small rubber vessels at risk of being overwhelmed at sea.
The rescued migrants were transferred onto a boat belonging to the Italian Coast Guard.
