About 100 US Marines joined a “jungle survival” class on Friday (February 17) as part of a 10-day joint military exercise in Thailand designed to teach them the essence of how to survive in the tropical rain forest.

The class, in Chanthaburi Province, involves differentiating between poisonous and non-poisonous snakes in the forest. The training also includes instructions on how to avoid and handle the King Cobra, whose venom can kill within 3 minutes. The annual exercise “Cobra Gold” is named after the snake.
