Ecuador’s Cotopaxi Volcano continues to rumble, spewing smoke and ash into the surrounding area and forcing nearby residents to take precautions. In the town of El Pedregal, located around 15 kilometres from the volcano’s base, the Red Cross distributed emergency kits containing masks, goggles and blankets to dozens of residents. Cotopaxi’s last eruption took place in 1940.
