Tune in to Euronews' new daily live programme “Europe Today” at 8 am Brussels time. In just 15 minutes, we get you up to speed on everything happening across the continent.

EU lawmakers are in Strasbourg until Thursday, discussing some of the most pressing geopolitical challenges Europeans face today: from the war in Ukraine to the future of European defence.

On today's agenda is defining a European solution for peace in Ukraine.

Meanwhile, defence is also a hot theme this week.

On Tuesday, MEPs adopted the first-ever European defence industry programme, aiming at strengthening the bloc’s defence capabilities.

They also voted in favour of deepening cooperation between the EU and Ukraine’s defence industries, by setting up a Ukraine Support Instrument to help modernise the Ukrainian defence industry and ease its integration with Europe's.

To help us understand what's happening behind closed doors, we have with us today Valdis Dombrovskis, EU Commissioner for Economy and former Prime Minister of Latvia, reacting to Ukraine's peace plan.

Our co-anchor Maria Tadeo is live from the European Parliament in Strasbourg with the latest on negotiations and the political mood among lawmakers.
