And in an indication of how serious the violence is, the Minister of the Interior and Security Bernard Quintin visited the scene of the shooting.

A 19 year old man was shot dead near Clemenceau Metro station on Saturday night in the third shooting in the area in just two weeks, Belgian broadcaster VRT reported.

A masked gunman armed with an assault rifle was captured on CCTV.

A few days ago the Brussels prosecutor blamed the recent shootings on a turf war between criminal gangs.
