The so-called Islamic State has developed a new methods to attack Europe, the head of the EU’s law enforcement agency has said.

Speaking at the opening of Europol’s new counter terrorism centre, Rob Wainwright said the group is preparing more attacks.

Rob Wainwright told journalists in the Dutch city of the Hague that “the so-called Islamic State had developed a new combat style capability to carry out a campaign of large-scale terrorist attacks on a global stage — with a particular focus in Europe.”

“So-called Islamic State has a willingness and a capability to carry out further attacks in Europe, and of course all national authorities are working to prevent that from happening,” he added.

Wainwright’s comments came at the unveiling of a new Europol report on changes in how the jihadi group operates.

The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the Nov. 13 Paris attacks in which 130 people were killed.

A U.S.-led coalition has been fighting the extremists in Syria and Iraq since September 2014.

“IS is preparing more terrorist attacks, including more ‘Mumbai-style’ attacks, to be executed in member states of the EU, and in France in particular,” the Europol report said.

Europol’s new counter terrorism centre aims to improve the exchange of information and investigate the links between terrorism and other crime.

Europol works with law enforcement agencies in the 27 member states and non-EU partner nations to fight against serious crime.
