The lawsuit claims Samsung's packaging made it appear as though she endorsed the products, despite never agreeing to the campaign.

British-Albanian pop star Dua Lipa has filed a $15 million (€13.2 million) lawsuit against Samsung, alleging the tech giant used her image on television packaging without permission.

According to a lawsuit filed in the US District Court for the Central District of California, Lipa claims Samsung prominently featured a photograph of her face on several TV models sold across the US without her consent.

The filing alleges the packaging was "designed to improperly capitalize on Ms. Lipa's hard-earned success to promote and sell Samsung's products."

Court documents state the image was taken during the singer's 2024 performance at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, and that the image is a copyrighted work owned by Lipa.

The lawsuit includes claims of copyright infringement, trademark infringement, and misappropriation of Lipa’s likeness and image.

According to the filing, Lipa first became aware of the packaging in June 2025 after fans began sharing images online, referring to it as the “Dua Lipa TV Box.”

As part of the evidence submitted in the case, the complaint also includes social media posts that Lipa's legal team says suggest customers bought the televisions solely because of her image. One post allegedly read: "I wasn’t even planning on buying a tv but I saw the box so I decided to get it."

Lipa's legal team also alleges Samsung ignored repeated demands to stop using the image.
