German news agency dpa reported that six people were taken to hospital with respiratory problems, forcing the American rapper to end his concert early.

JPEGMafia, real name Barrington DeVaughn Hendricks, is touring his fifth album ‘I Lay Down My Life for You’ across Europe. After performing in Copenhagen, last night was the second date of the European leg at Huxley's Neue Welt in Berlin, Germany.

Press reports say that people were pepper sprayed at the Berlin concert venue. Officials said it was still unclear what caused the pepper spray incident on Monday night, but police were investigating.

After the crowd was evacuated from Huxleys Neue Welt, about 1,600 concert goers were initially taken to a parking lot by police and then allowed to go home, dpa reported.

German broadcaster RBB reported that an unknown person sprayed pepper spray inside the auditorium during the concert.

JPEGMafia, 35, has yet to comment on the incident. Since the concert, he has only posted a link on Instagram to a post with photos of his concerts.
