At least 11 people were killed and more than 30 injured after a fire swept through a retirement home in the Bosnian city of Tuzla, authorities said Wednesday.

At least 11 people have died and over 30 others were injured in a fire that broke out Tuesday evening at a retirement home in Tuzla, Bosnia, officials confirmed.

The blaze erupted on the seventh floor of the residential complex, where elderly residents with limited mobility were staying.

Firefighters and rescue workers were among the injured, according to Tuzla Mayor Zijad Lugavic.

Emergency meetings were held Wednesday to assess the situation as authorities continued to investigate the cause of the fire.
