The pilot was killed during training exercises ahead of the Air Show 2025 International Air Show scheduled for the weekend.

An F-16 fighter jet belonging to Poland's Air Force  crashed during an airshow rehearsal on Thursday in Radom.

Local media said the jet crashed into the runway at around 1930 CET.

Spokesperson for the government, Adam Szlapka, confirmed the pilot was killed in the crash in a post on X but gave no further details.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who had previously discussed the situation with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Major General Adam Rzeczkowski, visited the scene of the tragedy.

The rescue operation is being conducted by the airport fire brigade, supported by units subordinate to the Ministry of the Interior and Administration.

The cause of the crash is currently not known.
