After days of extreme heat, powerful storms swept through parts of Central and Eastern Europe, causing deaths and widespread damage.

In northern Italy, a 63-year-old woman was killed near Milan when a tree fell during severe weather. Two municipal workers were injured while clearing debris overnight.

The storms follow a heatwave across the region, with scientists warning that climate change is increasing the frequency of such extreme events.

Hungary, Slovakia, Croatia, and Serbia also faced destructive storms and wildfires.

Wind gusts exceeding 100 km/h in Slovakia tore roofs off buildings and disrupted transport. In Croatia, hail damaged Split’s stadium and port, while Serbia battled hundreds of fires.
