At least three lawmakers were injured, one seriously, after violent clashes erupted in Serbia’s parliament on Tuesday.
Lawmakers were scheduled to vote on a law that would increase funding for university education, but opposition parties insisted the session was illegal and should first confirm the resignation of Prime Minister Miloš Vučević and his government.
Tensions escalated when opposition members blew whistles and displayed a banner reading “Serbia is Rising to Bring Down the Regime!" Shortly after, flares, smoke bombs, eggs, and water bottles were thrown, leading to physical confrontations.
