There were desperate scenes as people tried to extinguish the flames following an Israeli airstrike in the al-Maghazi refugee camp in central Gaza, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported on Thursday, October 24.

An Israeli strike on the Al-Maghazi Services Club, which housed displaced families, reportedly killed at least four people, according to Wafa.

The recent conflict, which began on October 7, 2023, after a Hamas-led attack in southern Israel, has led to extensive casualties on both sides.

Palestinian health authorities report that 42,847 people have been killed and over 100,544 injured in Gaza.

The initial Hamas attack killed 1,200 people in Israel, and about 250 hostages were taken.
