Chinese stocks made their biggest single day gain on Monday after US president Trump announced he would extend the March 1st tariff deadline.

Chinese stocks posted on Monday their biggest single day of gains in more than three years.

This followed US president Donald Trump's announcement that he would extend the March 1st tariff deadline on Chinese goods.

Trump hopes to meet with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping next month in Florida.

Meanwhile, China has pledged to increase its purchases to reduce its trade surplus with the US.
