The wake for Emiliano Sala, the Argentine footballer who died in a plane crash over the English Channel, took place on Saturday afternoon in his home town of Progreso.
Locals gathered outside Club Atletico y Social San Martin, the club where the former striker of French club Nantes played as a youth, during the wake.
They applauded as his coffin was loaded into one of the cars in a black hearse.
Among those in attendance was Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock — Sala was set to play at the club after being signed for a record fee.
