The 17th Chagan Lake Ice Fishing Culture Tourism Festival including the annual tradition of Chagan Lake winter fishing will kick off in northeast China's Jilin Province on Friday.

This festival covers three sections - fish watching, snowscape sightseeing and folk custom experience, which will last for two months, according to the management committee of the Chagan Lake Tourism Economic Development Zone.

The ice fishing method can be traced back centuries, and now the ancient tradition still helps locals prosper while getting fish bigger than any most people have ever seen.
