French actor Gerard Depardieu denies rape allegations

French actor Gerard Depardieu is being investigated by a Paris prosecutor over accusations of rape and sexual assault, according to a judicial source. The 69-year-old French actor denies any wrongdoing. He has agreed to cooperate with the investigation, according to his lawyer.

The alleged victim is a 22-year-old female actor who told police in southern France on Monday. Depardieu is one of France’s biggest international stars and has taken part in more than 170 films. He gained international recognition after starring in the 1990 film Green Card.
