(Reuters) - Burnley can put their 3-1 home defeat to Watford firmly behind them by getting a good result against Greek side Olympiakos in the first leg of their Europa League playoff fixture on Thursday, defender James Tarkowski has said.

Tarkowski scored his first goal for the club on Sunday to cancel out Andre Gray's opener before Troy Deeney and Will Hughes sealed the Premier League victory for the visitors.

"We'll look forward to Thursday and go and get a positive result in Greece," Tarkowski told the club website.

"It'll be another tough test, but so far we've really enjoyed ourselves in Europe and it's something we will be looking to continue."

Victory over the two legs would give Burnley a place in the group stage of Europe's second-tier club competition. They are playing in European competition for the first time since the 1966-67 Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
