Russian President Vladimir Putin is set for another six years in power after an election where his victory was never seriously in doubt.

Many Russians believe he has restored stability after the chaos that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union.

For one woman,  Putin is the only man to lead the country in what she says is an 'unstable' world.

"It is Vladimir Putin, there is a threat from everywhere, only he can resolve this situation," she said

One man voted for the Communist Party candidate Pavel Grundinin. He said he would like Russia to have a leader who had a different point of view.

While some Russians, stayed away from the polls fearing they were not transparent.

Putin has promised to use his new term to beef up Russia's defences against the West and to raise living standards.

His victory takes his political dominance of Russia to nearly a quarter of a century, until 2024. Only Soviet dictator Josef Stalin ruled for longer.
