Panathinaikos have beaten Maccabi Tel Aviv to keep pressure on Euroleague leaders CSKA Moscow.

The Greek side extended their unbeaten home run to seven with a comfortable win over the Israelis, that saw their defence shine.

In the first half Maccabi kept it tight, going into the break down 49-43. Norris Cole chipped in with 13 points for the visitors.

Panathinaikos make the difference

KC Rivers was impressive for the hosts - hitting three from four outside of the 'D'.

A five-point differential in the third period though, proved critical though as Panathinaikos kept the Israelis down to just 13.

89-76 it finished.

Lost in Lithuania

Elsewhere, Zalgiris Kaunas moved up to fifth after a hard-fought 88-84 win over Brose Bamberg.

The visitors started impressively with Dorell Wright on fire as the German side took a commanding 10 point lead.

Arturas Milaknis was locked in from behind the line last night.

But the Lithuanians narrowed the gap to just one point by the break.

Martynas Arkauskas was the difference between the two sides nailing 20 points, with Paulius Jankunas adding another 17.
