China's new manned submersible has been proved to be excellent in its general performance after a deep-sea testing in October, said chief designer Hu Zhen.

The new submersible, Shenhai Yongshi, or Deep-sea Warrior, underwent a series of testing, including knock-down inspection, power-on check, visual check and colored flaw detection earlier this month after finishing its first deep-sea testing that lasted around 50 days in the South China Sea in October.

The inspection results showed that the submersible is in good condition technically after carrying out 28 dives at the designed maximum depth of 4,534 meters, said Hu.

It took the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation and more than 90 Chinese organizations and companies eight years to develop the submersible, with all the core components made in China.
