Video has emerged of a North Korean soldier fleeing a hail of bullets as he escapes to the South
Dramatic video has emerged of a North Korean solider’s daring defection to the South/
The footage, released by the United Nations Command in Seoul (UNC), appears to show the soldier speeding in a military jeep towards the border village of Panmunjom.
He crashes and is shot several times as his compatriots give chase.
The rank and identity of the soldier, who defected last week have not been disclosed.
But doctors say he’s now regained consciousness and is breathing unassisted following surgery after being critically wounded in the hail of bullets as he made his astonishing getaway.
In its efforts to stop the getaway an official from UNC said North Korea violated the armistice agreement as one of its soldiers crossed the Military Demarcation Line (MDL), the border between the two Koreas.
