A group of pupils was caught in the crossfire between Kenyan police and opposition supporters in the capital Nairobi on Monday.
The children were leaving their school in the impoverished neighbourhood of Kwangware after finishing the first day of national exams.
The students could be seen huddling against a wall while journalists in protective gear tried to shield them.
Two school girls collapsed after being exposed to tear gas fired by police at protesters.
They were carried away by members of the media and police.
Opposition supporters had earlier thrown stones at the convoy of a government official after he visited a school in the area, prompting police to retaliate with tear gas.
Protesters continued to throw stones and police continued to fire tear gas even as the children were trying leave the scene.
