With Halloween just around the corner, a swarming blizzard of crows descended on the city of Tursonzoda, Tajikistan, over the weekend, spreading fear among locals.

Scores of the black birds filled the dark sky over the city in a scene fitting of a Batman or horror movie.

But while the so-called murder of crows – the collective noun for a group of the birds – might have looked menacing, scientists told local media outlet Ozodvideo that it was, in fact, a natural phenomenon in the area.
