Legendary artist Fats Domino has died aged 89, according to local reports from New Orleans. \n\nLocal TV station WWL-TV quoted his daughter as confirming his death, saying he died peacefully surrounded by family. \n\nAntoine \u201cFats\u201d Domino Jr. was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1928, and began his music career in 1949. Teaming up with trumpet player and band leader Dave Bartholomew, who produced and co-wrote Domino\u2019s first record \u201cThe Fat Man\u201d released the same year. His career spanned five decades, in which time he sold over 65 million records and produced over 25 gold singles.\n\nAlways reclusive and shy, Domino pioneered a playing style that became synonomous with New Orleans\u2019 rich musical tapestry.\n\nHe\u2019ll be best remembered for several chart-topping hits such as \u201cBlueberry Hill\u201d, \u201cAint that a shame\u201d and \u201cI\u2019m Walking\u201d .
