Former footballer George Weah and Vice President Joseph Boakai will most likely face each other in the second round of voting in the Liberian elections
Former footballer George Weah held a commanding 39.2 lead in provisional first-round results made available by Liberia’s elections commission on Saturday (October 14).
The country’s Vice President Joseph Boakai came a close second with 29.6 percent of the votes after ballots had been cast from nearly three-quarters of polling places.
This means that the two men will probably face off against each other in the second round next month.
In a distant third place Charles Brumskine, a lawyer, won 9.7 percent of the votes.
