Taiwan let off hundreds of lanterns to mark the start of the mid-Autumn festival

The people of New Taipei City let off hundreds of lanterns in Taiwan as part of the Sky Lantern Festival.

The festival started on the 4th October to mark the end of the Lunar New year.

People hand-write wishes onto the lantern before launching them into the sky. Most wishes are about good health for their family.

The festival runs on an annual basis and originally was held in 1990.
