Chris Froome has become the third man ever to have won the Tour de France and the Tour of Spain in the same season. The British rider picked up not just the red but also the green and white jerseys for topping the points classification and the combined standings.
For what it was worth Matteo Trentin won the final stage, a parade into Madrid. but the day belonged to Froome and to Alberto Contador, for whom this was the last ever career race before retiring.
