The Grammy Award-winning Los Angeles band La Santa Cecilia has opted for live recordings for its new album.

Mostly recorded in the street in Mexico City, the songs have been described as love letters to the band’s Latin culture.

Lead singer Marisol “La Marisoul” Hernandez said: “I think that’s the beauty of this album, no? That it captures these moments, no? It’s not about capturing the song at its perfection, or the recording, but about capturing moments of us just setting up somewhere and just playing. And whoever is there is there. And yeah sometimes there’s dogs passing over the cables and you can hear birds and things. But it’s like real life, real moments.”
