Bastian Schweinsteiger is heading stateside after Manchester United agreed to let the midfielder join MLS club Chicago Fire.

The 32-year-old has seen his playing time at Old Trafford limited since joining in 2015 and will now look to the US for more regular appearances on the pitch.

He has played just four times for United this season and 18 in total.

The deal, which was agreed upon by the clubs on Monday is subject to a medical and visa being secured.

According to local reports the former Germany captain has signed a one year deal with the club.

Before joining United Schweinsteiger spent 13 seasons wirth Bayner Munich, winning eight Bundesliga titles, seven German Cups and the 2013 Champions League.

He played 121 times for Germany and led his nation to World Cup victory in 2014.
