Four skiers dead in Tignes avalanche

Three members of the same family are among at least four skiers who have been killed in an avalanche in Tignes in the French Alps. The avalanche struck at around 11am CET in the off-piste area of Tovière.

Emergency services said the victims were swept away by a massive wall of snow, reported to have stretched 400 metres across.

The skiers were exploring off-piste accompanied by a guide.
