Italy takes gold in the men's Fencing final in Cancun.

Fencing’s Grand Prix series kicked off in Mexican resort of Cancun. Italy’s Luigi Samele faced Csanad Gemesi of Hungary in the semi-final of the men’s sabres.

The pair traded points in the early stages, but the Italian eventually pulled away to win
15-9.

In the second semifinal the South Korean Lee Jonghyun beat Russia Ilya Motorin 15-10

It would be joy for Italy in the final, as Samele, despite giving away an early lead to Lee Jonghyun emerged triumphant in the end 15 – 11.
