Egyptian judoka Islam el-Shahabi (in blue) has been sent home from the Rio Olympics by his national team for refusing to shake hands with an Israeli judoka.
El-Shahabi lost to Israeli Or Sasson in a qualifying fight in the 100 kilo category last Friday.
When Sasson bowed – as is custom in judo after a fight – El-Shahabi stayed upright, and when Sasson approached to shake hands the Egyptian snubbed the gesture.
A very big Olympic no no.
