'Marijuana march' calls for legalisation in Germany

Thousands of people marched through Berlin on Saturday in an annual protest to demand the legalisation of marijuana.

While illegal in Germany, it is allowed in rare cases for medical use.

Earlier this year, the government backed a relaxation of rules on cannabis use by the seriously ill, if there are no other treatment options.

There were no reports of arrests at the protest which passed off peacefully.
