Australia has became the first Olympic champions in women’s rugby sevens after beating New Zealand 24-17 in the gold medal final.

Australia has became the first Olympic champions in women’s rugby sevens after beating New Zealand 24-17 in the gold medal final.

Earlier, Canada took the bronze after a 33-10 victory over Great Britain.

It’s the first time there has been any rugby at the Olympics since 1924 and the women’s game and rugby sevens are both completely new to the Olympics.
